When I get lost in the world around me I close my eyes to find myself. It’s an easy way to shut off the world, the opinions I imagine other people have of me, the pressure I put on myself to be or act a certain way. When I close my eyes, I allow myself to be me, to find my own rhythm and to sway to my own beat.

A few weeks ago I was blessed with meeting a little fairy friend who came bearing gifts and many words of wisdom. She told me that there’s nothing more important than living your life as you. She shared with me these simple words that rang so true, and now I’ve shared my secret with you. Close your eyes and let you be you. Quiet the voices in your head, breathe, and find your own groove.

When winter seems to last five to six months out of the year, you gotta work hard at looking good while you stay bundled up, which is almost impossible when the weather gets to -30 like it was yesterday. Though these shots were taken a few days before the tundra-like weather arrived to Edmonton, it was still several degrees below zero. My take on a winter outfit: a military jacket to go with my army boots, and a purple scarf for some contrast and warmth.
